Connect with the Peace of Nature and Your True Nature

I'm in training to be a forest bathing guide, and I'd like to share my background experience with nature and intention for the future!

I found 2 snails in my sink from the garden produce. My son, Jesse, let's them free outside.

This is my last episode recorded from the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Boulder, Colorado at a very sacred location, called Starhouse. It's a very special and different episode because I don't speak. I simply sat under the sun and a tree and listened to the birds and watched the bees nectaring on the flowers. It is such a beautiful experience to sit in nature quietly and watch with complete presence. Nothing is more special to me! I hope you enjoy it.

For this episode I was visiting Boulder, Colorado for a weekend retreat. During one of our breaks I sit in a field and notice the clicking grasshoppers. Waiting for them really was exciting for me! The silence in between their noise was incredibly calming! I also pay attention to the grass and the clouds. Now that I'm home and back to my busy life, it's apparent how much nature brings me to a calm place as I watch or listen to this very peaceful episode.  The audio podcast of this and more of the Peace is Nature series can be listened to here. 

The next few episodes were recorded in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains outside of Boulder, Colorado where I spent a long weekend. In this episode I stop and sit on a trail in the forest. I notice some gorgeous purple flowers, the wind, and the silence. Over the weekend I had the opportunity to tap into the stillness and peace in my heart, rather than my mind. 

I sit by the stream on a warm Spring day and take a pause from my busy life. I notice there are many new leaves and grasses emerging, insects flying around, and spiderwebs shining in the sunlight. What a gift to be present to this beauty! Spring is on the brink of arrival as the ground is finally soft after months of hard ice and snow. I find joy, peace, and beauty in the midst of fog as I walk in the woods behind my house in Maine. There are subtle noises of the nuthatches calling and the drops of water falling from the trees. Appreciation bubbles from me when I notice the moss growing around the bases of the tree trunks and the green contrast of the balsam firs against the brown of the forest. When I reach the destination, I sense a deer is near. In this episode I sit in the woods and watch a snow cloud arrive and let loose snow into the air. I feel the snowflakes land on my face. When the snow cloud moves away a blue sky and sun arrives.  I become aware of the experience sitting in nature as very comforting and safe. It's a feeling that stays with me throughout other areas of my life.  A vision of mine is of people coming together to observe the beauty of nature. Not everyone likes winter, but that could change through appreciating small details in nature. Appreciation is a very uplifting experience. On a 13 degree day I take a short stroll through the woods next to my house. These small moments of pausing in the busyness of my life to focus on appreciation bring me so much inner peace!
